A Wider Circle

A Wider Circle's mission is to end poverty for one individual and one family after another. Services focus on provision of basic need items, comprehensive workforce readiness support, wellness programming, and long term, wraparound support. These components work in concert to create lasting change in the lives of those we serve.

Calvary Women’s Services

JLW volunteers support Calvary Women's Services in their mission to educate and empower women for independent living. Volunteers foster this goal by providing and serving meals two Sundays per month to women residing at Calvary, planning resident activities, and providing support at special events.

Community Family Life Services

The CFLS Committee’s purpose is to plan meaningful activities for formerly unhoused women and their children being served by CFLS and living in CFLS housing communities in Washington, DC. These women may be recovering from substance use disorders and many have recently regained custody of their children from the foster care system. Through these activities and social interactions with the committee members, the women at CFLS receive support, life skills, and personal/professional development.

The mission of the Horton's Kids Committee is to support the Horton's Kids organization at large. The mission of Horton's Kids, a nonprofit in Washington, DC, is to provide comprehensive services to the children of Washington, DC's Ward 8, improving the quality of their daily lives, and nurturing their desires and ability to succeed.

Jubilee Jumpstart

The Jubilee JumpStart committee will support high-quality early childhood care and education for 48 children (ages 6 weeks old to 5 years old), parent support and family engagement, and teacher professional development to build a robust foundation upon which the families and children can grow, thrive and succeed in school and life. The committee will support literacy events, create original reading activities, and maintain the center libraries.

Langley Residential Support Services (LRSS) is a Northern Virginia-based non-profit that offers a variety of quality comprehensive residential and community support services that enable mentally challenged adults to live active and rich lives and to develop the self-confidence that comes with being independent.

Reading All-Stars

Northstar Tutoring’s Saturday literacy program, Reading All-Stars (RAS), provides DC Public School students with individualized, one-on-one literacy mentorship and enrichment at their schools. Volunteer mentors and students build writing and reading skills together, as well as a deeper love for the written word, all while working closely with school administrators and teachers to reinforce and build on classroom learning.
